Ecost

Ecost needs to improve its customer service, have enough call reps so that customers aren't waiting for 30 minutes for service as was my case, and make sure the website works properly so that customers can track their orders.

eCost is horrible

Yes, I am an idiot. I have purchased three items from eCost.com and had problems with all of them. My first purchase was a refurbed Tivo that works half the time. I just sucked it up and dealt with it rather than going through the return process. My next order was for a new MP3 player with 256M. The item came in a package stating it was 256M. I downloaded a few songs and tested it and it worked fine. After a few weeks, I went to download the rest of the songs and realized there was only 128M. I called eCost to report the error but I was already 2 days out of the warranty period so they would not take it back. I understand policies like this but they sent me the wrong item and I think an exception should have been made. I just purchased a refurbed JVC DVD/VCR combo. It does not work right out of the box. eCost is taking it back and has promised a refund but it is a hassle. Don't let the great prices fool you (like they did me). I would suggest buying from them only if you are willing to roll the dice knowing their success rate is pretty low. Btw, I have bought many refurbed items from other retailers and never had problems.

defective

They sent me a defective jawbone bluetooth and I have to order another one and sent them back the defective items. Still end up paying more for the jawbone including time and dsl.

Wireless N Router

I purchased a wireless router from eCost. After the purchase I found a better deal and called to cancel. The eCost representative told me they couldn't cancel the order because it was not in their system yet, and that I should call back when it was. So I called back a few minutes later. They then told me that once it was in the system it could not be cancelled. They insisted I needed to let them ship it to me and then return it. However once it arrived I was told all sales are final. Dealing with this company will leave you with a very slimy feeling. They are the worst most dishonest bunch of scum I have ever dealt with. They should be avoided at all costs.

Good deals

I love ecost. I have never had a problem and I have made about 15 purchases from them. Once when I accidentally ordered an item I sent them an email explaining that and they canceled the order immediately. Unlike some listed on here I didn't waste my time calling, I used the link on there website to do everything with customer service. If only people would figure out that it is quicker and easier to do that than just waiting on hold and complaining then maybe they would get better service. Then again these are the same people that don't bother to check the item when it is received so I guess I really shouldn't be surprised.
